Two men accused of two separate killings head to court Friday

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two Columbia men accused of murder in two separate cases are heading to the Boone County courthouse Friday to face a judge for their hearings.

The first man set to appear is Sevance Brewer, who is multiple felony charges after allegedly killing a pregnant woman in north Columbia.

Brewer is facing charges of first and second degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. According to court documents, he has entered a plea of not guilty.

His hearing is scheduled for 10:25 a.m. Friday at the Boone County Courthouse.

In August, police responded to a call on Clearview Rd. just before 7:30 a.m. for reports of an assault. Upon arrival, they found a pregnant 27-year-old dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Court documents say he shot the victim during an argument. Following the incident he was seen leaving the home with the gun he had used to shoot her, according to doorbell video footage.

Investigators later found the gun under a rock in a creek bed at Again Street Park, according to a statement.

The second Columbia man on the Boone County Courthouse docket Friday is 22-year-old Alen Muslic. He is facing felony charges for stabbing Zufer Muslic to death back in October.

Muslic is facing charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action. According to court documents, he has also entered a not guilty plea.

Muslic's hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Boone County Courthouse. He is currently being held at the Boone County Jail with no bond.

Officers responded to Medina Dr. around 12:15 a.m. for a disturbance call, according to a probable cause statement. Muslic allegedly told officers that he had gotten into a fight with his father, which escalated.

He reportedly then followed his father outside with two knives and stabbed him.

According to court documents police found blood inside the home, on the walls, on knives in the home and a trail of blood leading from the front to the back of the home.

Boone County Prosecutor Roger Thompson stated the punishment range for first-degree murder if convicted, ranges from life imprisonment to the death penalty.
