Cole County Commission set to discuss 2024 budget Thursday

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Cole County Commission is set to meet Thursday at 9 a.m. to further discuss the county budget for the 2024 fiscal year.

The meeting will be held in Downtown Jefferson City on E. High St.

A public forum will be held before the commission votes on the budget.

The current budget draft is about $122 million. This is one of the many meetings that have been held discussing the budget.

On Tuesday, commissioners heard from multiple agencies about how much money should be dispersed where.

The 2023 county budget was over $123 million, dispersing money for items like road and bridge work, the juvenile center, emergency management and more.

The next scheduled meeting for the commission is set for Tuesday Jan. 9.

Commissioners have until Jan. 10 to approve the budget.
