WHAT’S GOING AROUND: Doctors seeing strep throat, flu and COVID-19 cases

Here is a roundup of the illnesses doctors say are spreading around Mid-Missouri.

MU Health Care primary and urgent care facilities

Dr. Laura Morris says MU Health Care's primary and urgent care facilities are seeing many patients with respiratory symptoms.

Morris says those patients do not have positive tests for Influenza, COVID-19 or RSV.

She says the cases are still likely viral infections but not one of the big three.

Jefferson City Medical Group in Fulton

Nurse Practitioner Dwight Jones says Jefferson City Medical Group in Fulton is seeing some cases of strep throat, along with cases of COVID-19, influenza and the stomach flu.

Jones says there have also been a lot of cases of viral upper respiratory infections as well as patients having the stomach flu at the same time.

Boone Health Primary Care in Moberly

Boone Health in Moberly says they have seen an increase in COVID-19 cases over the past few weeks.

Patients with COVID-19 have symptoms of sinus pressure, runny nose, congestion and cough.

Boone Health is also seeing patients with influenza Type A. Those patients are experiencing fever and fatigue.

Doctors say while numbers are not peaking they are anticipating an uptick in cases with the holidays right around the corner. They say it's not too late to get an updated flu or COVID-19 vaccine.

The City of Columbia is holding a flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinic Thursday at the Daniel Boone Regional Library from 4 to 7 p.m.

It is a walk-in clinic so no appointments are needed.
