City of Columbia to hold public hearing regarding short-term rental regulations
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The City of Columbia's Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing Thursday to hear what citizens have to say about the proposed short-term rental regulations.
The meeting will be held at the City Council Chambers at 701 E. Broadway at 7 p.m.
The proposed regulations include a three "tier" structure for rental limitations, new specific and clearer definitions to the proposal, revisions to permitted use qualifications and specific standards.
People interested in the new drafted regulations can come to the meeting or find it out on the cities website.
The city says it will take what the public has to say into consideration before any decisions are finalized.
If the city does decide to move forward with the draft regulations, they will become standard for short term rentals.
The proposed amendments are part of the cities Unified Development Code, which regulates land use, site development and the subdivision of land in Columbia.
Back in July was when commission members decided to begin making plans for the new regulations. Commission members are concerned that too many properties are being taken over by Air BNB owners looking to make money, and these regulations could ease that.
