Jefferson City Council to meet to discuss additional parking spots
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Jefferson City Council is scheduled to meet Monday to discuss the addition of 10 new parking spaces on Dunklin, between Marshall Street and Lafayette Street. Multiple businesses in the area, including the Jefferson City Community Center, had asked the City for more parking spaces.
The Council also plans to discuss the authorization for a contract with GWH Landscape Contracting LLC. The contract will cost $79,254.60 for the Creekbank Stabilization as part of the River Valley Drive project in Jefferson City.
Another contract will be discussed for authorization on Monday as well. This contract is with Korte Enterprises LLC for yard waste drop-off and Composting Services. The contract would include a one-year period of $195,600 as well as four, one-year renewals.
There are also a number of pending bills on the agenda of which includes giving money to the Jefferson City Police Department. If approved, $50,000 would be used toward a recruiting and marketing chair to help with staffing shortages.
The Council also plans to discuss a $192,521 consolidated planning grant agreement with Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission. The grant would be used for metropolitan planning services for the fiscal year 2024.
Another pending item on the agenda includes authorizing the Transit Division Manager to apply for a Federal Transit Administration section 5310. The section includes funding for states and designated recipients of large urbanized areas with populations of 200,000 or more. This funding is meant to improve mobility for senior citizens and individuals with disabilities.
The Council will also hear from the public about the city's operating budget and the rate of property tax for 2023. Other agenda items of discussion for Monday's meeting can be found here.
