Juvenile in custody in relation to north Columbia shooting

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police took a juvenile into custody for a shooting outside a north side business.

The department said in a news release that it took the young person into custody around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 1400 block of Rangeline Street.

The juvenile is accused of taking part in the shooting in the 3800 block of Rangeline Street on the afternoon of March 28. Police had numerous evidence markers throughout the parking lot of the building that includes La Siesta restaurant. Officers said at the time no one was hurt.

The news release said the juvenile faces six counts of first-degree assault, as well as armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and stealing. The person in custody will go to the Juvenile Justice Center. A judge will decide later whether the case will take place in juvenile court or if the person will face the charges in adult court.
