Highway Patrol investigating Randolph County sheriff

HUNTSVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ) -

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is looking into allegations made against Randolph County Sheriff Aaron Wilson.

MSHP spokesman Capt. John Hotz said Randolph County's prosecutor asked the Division of Drug and Crime Control to investigate the situation. Neither Hotz nor prosecutor Stephanie Luntsford elaborated on what exactly Wilson was accused of doing.

Wilson declined to comment on the investigation on Tuesday.

Luntsford did not say when she made the request to involve DDCC, but said the unit is often activated to look into a variety of things. For claims made against law enforcement officials, Luntsford said it is often prudent to involve an agency outside of the area to investigate.

Wilson was elected as sheriff in 2020 for a four-year term.
