Jefferson City man charged after allegedly threatening woman with knife
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Jefferson City man was arrested and charged with multiple felonies Saturday after he allegedly threatened a woman with a knife.
James Cloud, 48, is charged with armed-criminal action, violation of a protection order – second offense and unlawful use of a weapon. He was also charged with third-degree attempted domestic assault, a misdemeanor.
Cloud is being held without bond, according to Casenet. An arraignment hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Cole County Courthouse.
On Saturday evening, Jefferson City police responded to a call of a man with a knife inside a residence. The victim stated Cloud had a knife and that he told her to call police. They were previously in a relationship that ended and the victim has an active order of protection against Cloud, according to the probable cause statement.
The victim allegedly told police that she and Cloud were in an argument when he put a steak knife in a fireplace. He allegedly grabbed the knife again and told the woman to call police as he advanced towards her, according to the probable cause statement.
The victim told police that she feared for her and her dog’s life. She also thought Cloud could hurt himself. After she called for law enforcement, Cloud allegedly asked her why she called police.
Cloud was found by officers outside the residence near his truck. He allegedly complied with verbal commands and was detained.
Cloud allegedly told officers that he didn’t have a knife and that he was messing with the fireplace with a fire poker. He also stated his order of protection was dropped 15 days prior, in which police told him it was still active, according to the probable cause statement. He was then brought to the Cole County Jail.
