Area government offices to be closed Monday for MLK Day

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Area government offices will be closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The City of Columbia sent out a press release announcing its offices will be closed, also noting trash will not be collected on Monday. The public transit system will not run and parking meter regulations will not be enforced.

The Activity and Recreation Center will operate normal hours on Monday.

Jefferson City also said its city offices will be closed, buses will not operate and parking meters will not be enforced. Republic Services will run normal trash pickup routes, according to a press release. The yard-waste drop off site at 2417 Southridge Drive will be open. The City Council meeting will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Boone County also announced its offices will be closed.

Emergency services will still be available.
