Columbia man charged with rape, kidnapping, assault

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man is charged with several felonies after he was accused of rape and other charges.
Samuel Buckins Jr., 41, is charged with first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping, two counts of second-degree domestic assault and first-degree property damage. He is being held in the Boone County Jail without bond.
An arraignment hearing was held Thursday. A confined docket hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at the Boone County Courthouse. A preliminary hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8.
On Dec. 27, Buckins entered the alleged victim’s vehicle without their permission and attempted to drive it while refusing to allow the vehicle to leave, according to the probable cause statement. Buckins hit another vehicle that was parked in a parking lot.
The victim tried to leave the vehicle, but Buckins sped up again. He then allegedly took the victim’s cellphone so they couldn’t call for help.
Buckins drove to an unknown location and dragged the victim to the backseat, demanded they take their clothes off, strangled and raped them, according to the probable cause statement. Buckins did not allow the victim to leave until the next morning.
