Nine people displaced after Jefferson City apartment fire

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Jefferson City Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire after nine people were displaced, the department said in an email Tuesday.

The department went to the 900 block of Jackson Street on Tuesday, where fire was seen coming from the first floor of a five-unit apartment building. No injuries have been reported.

The building suffered fire damage to the apartment where the fire started and fire damage from extension to the apartment above and the roofline.  The rest of the apartment building suffered smoke damage.  

The fire department said in an email that the fire likely started in the kitchen. The fire report indicated that there was about $150,000 lost in property damage and another $30,000 in content damage.
