Cole County sales tax reduced

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Cole County law enforcement sales tax has been reduced to three-eighths of a cent.

This comes after voters approved a half-cent tax in 2007. The Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce said this change was part of that went into effect January 2008.

The tax was scheduled to be reduced to three-eighths of a cent after the law enforcement facility debt was paid in full, which happened last month. As of Jan. 1, the sales tax was adjusted. It is split between law enforcement, EMS and capital sales tax.
