COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Catholic Charities of Central and Northeast Missouri had to close its office in north Columbia because of severe water damage, according to a press release.

A pipe froze over the holiday break and flooded the building on East Brown School Road. Repairs could take several weeks, and it's not safe to access right now.

The group helps families and refugees across 38 counties. The group said on Facebook that services will continue, despite the office closure.

It also has offices in Sedalia and Jefferson City. The group said it will keep the public updated with its social media pages and website as restoration gets underway.

Mid-Missouri was rocked last weekend by frigid temperatures and wind chills. Several local churches, organizations and schools closed due to the weather last week and weekend. Faurot Field and other buildings on the University of Missour's campus experienced pipe bursts, which caused "significant damage," according to a university spokesman.
