One dead in crash near Hominy Creek, Route WW reopened

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri Department of Transportation said in a tweet that Route WW is closed at Hominy Creek, between Keene Street and Legion Lane due to a crash.

The Columbia Police Department tweeted that one person died in the crash.

Another person was sent to an area hospital for reported minor injuries.

(1) At approximately 2 p.m. Columbia Police were dispatched to the area of East Broadway and Hominy Creek Trail for a traffic collision. The road is currently closed in both directions as first responders address the incident. pic.twitter.com/Y5NqUQgV1x

Columbia Fire Chief Clayton Farr Jr. said the road was "completely blocked and will be for some time" and the scene cleared at about 4:15 p.m.

Other crashes have happened at the bridge before. An injury crash took place there in March and a woman was killed in a crash near the bridge in March 2019.
