Jefferson City man charged with child sex crime
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Jefferson City man faces multiple felony charges after police say he had inappropriate communication with a child.
Kevin McGee, 43, was charged with child enticement, being a sex offender within 1,000 feet of a school and failure to register as a sex offender.
The Jefferson City Police Department on Tuesday assisted the Missouri Division of Family Services in the investigation of a hotline call about sexual misconduct.
McGee was taken into custody on Wednesday. He admitted to being a registered sex offender and that his registration was not up to date, according to a press release. He was questioned about the allegations made involving a 14-year-old victim that resulted in the hotline notification. McGee gave police his cellphone.
Police found conversations on the phone with McGee and the victim that allegedly showed ongoing messages discussing sexual intentions. McGee allegedly told police about attempts to have intercourse with the victim for about a year, according to the press release.
McGee is being held without bond at the Cole County Jail. An arraignment is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Cole County Circuit Court.
