Court date scheduled for Callaway County Sheriff accused of driving while intoxicated

The Callaway County Sheriff is scheduled for a court hearing on Nov. 14 after being arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism posted a $2,000 bail after he was arrested Thursday evening on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
According to the Randolph County Sheriff's Department, Chism crashed his car into concrete barriers Thursday evening. Police received calls of property damage. Chism was arrested by Moberly Police just before 8 p.m. on suspicion of driving while under the influence.
Chief Deputy Darryl Maylee of the Callaway County Sheriff's Office said Chism was off duty and in his personal vehicle at the time of the arrest. Maylee said Chism was processed through the Randolph County Jail and was later released on summons after posting bond.
Chism will be unavailable while receiving professional services, according to Maylee. The Callaway County Sheriff Department says, they will not comment further at this time.
At this time, no charges have been filed.
ABC 17 News reached out to the Moberly Police Department, the department says they cannot comment at this time.
