Columbia man charged with multiple crimes after incident downtown

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man faces multiple charges after an incident downtown involving a victim's car.

A Boone County prosecutor has charged Timothy Banks with vehicle hijacking - serious physical injury, two counts of armed criminal action, second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon - exhibiting.

Police responded to a physical disturbance at 7:09 a.m. of May 15 at the intersection of East Walnut St. and 10th St. in Columbia.

Banks allegedly went up to the victim and her car and stated that he owned the vehicle. Banks then allegedly threw a glass liquor bottle at the victim, according to the probable cause statement.

The victim told police that she got into the car's front passenger seat to get out of the way of the glass bottle and then Banks got into the vehicle and slashed her leg, according to court documents.

Banks is being held in the Boone County Jail, he was denied bond according to online court records.

Online court records indicate Banks does not have a defense attorney listed for this case.

Banks was arraigned on Friday afternoon.
