Columbia mother still searching for answers after bus driver drove away while her son had a seizure

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ.)

An Oakland Middle School mother, Crenda Warren, continues to search for answers after a bus driver saw her 12-year-old son have a seizure and drove off without helping

Warren says her son J.T., is back in school but she still has a few unanswered questions.

"I feel like...I don't know how to feel, I'm numb, and I haven't ate, I'm barely sleeping...I don't know like," said Warren.

J.T. was standing less than two feet away from his bus on Qual and Nelwood in Northeast Columbia when his mother says he started feeling numbness in his leg. Just a few seconds later, J.T. would experience his first seizure.

Warren says her son held on to the back of a white Ford just before he fell out into the middle of the road and seized for about 10 minutes.

J.T.'s 14-year-old brother called 9-1-1 but his family is still shocked that the driver didn't offer any help but instead just radioed the incident in and drove away.

Since Friday, ABC 17 News has tried to get a hold of the bus company Student Transportation of America. They still haven't responded.

Warren says she feels like the driver left her child out on the road to die.

"I don't have any understanding...I'm numb," said Warren.

Warren says J.T. is still recovering from the incident but has returned to school.

Warren says regardless of little cooperation from the school and bus company she is hoping to get criminal charges against the driver and she says she'll stop at nothing until that's accomplished.

 "It's not about money... it's about justice..like she's wrong...she's wrong," said Warren.

ABC 17 News also reached out to the Columbia Police Department and has not heard anything back.

Amy Salladay, an attorney with Columbia Family Law, says in a situation like this the police department will not generally turn over a report of this nature to the prosecution.
