Jury finds Columbia man guilty of 2020 second-degree murder

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Boone County jury has found a Columbia man guilty of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the beating death of a man in 2020.

David Myers and Anthony Lockwood, 39, were in an argument, then Myers chased Lockwood into the road with a pole or stick from his covered porch and hit Lockwood multiple times with the stick, according to a probable cause statement.

Lockwood was found lying across the road from 1800 W. Sycamore Hills Road, according to a probable cause statement.

Myers has 25 days to file a motion for a new trial.

Myers remains in Boone County Jail being held without bond.

Myers will be sentenced on April 22.
