Tracking clouds and wind that will make for a very chilly end to the week

FRIDAY: After starting with mostly clear skies at sunrise, clouds will begin to fill in from the north through mid-morning. Winds will also begin to pick up into late morning. Expect highs in the low 40's with wind chill values in the low 30's on Friday. Most will stay dry, but spotty sprinkles and flurries are possible this afternoon, especially north of I-70.

TONIGHT: Cloud cover is the big hinge on which the forecast swings. If the forecast holds and we clear out tonight, expect lows early Saturday in the high 20's. Some data suggests we could keep some of those clouds around, keeping us in the low 30's. Either way, prepare for temperatures to drop below freezing tonight, with winds beginning to relax, but still making it feel like 20's.

EXTENDED: Saturday will bring a return to sunshine, if only through a partly cloudy sky. Temperatures don't climb much warmer into the afternoon, but winds should be less of a problem. Sunday brings a chance at a cold rain. A few flakes may mix in Sunday, but currently, it looks unlikely. Highs on Sunday climb into the high 40's. We're back into the 50's and even 60's by the middle of next week. This warming trend will precede our next chance for areawide rainfall on Wednesday.
