Search underway in Callaway County for man accused of stealing from business
CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Several law enforcement agencies worked into the early hours of Thursday to find a suspect who ran from Callaway County Sheriff's deputies.
The Callaway County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post on Wednesday that Brett Shepherd, 39, was wanted for a parole violation, along with possibly stealing from a Millersburg business.
According to the post, Callaway County deputies were called to the stealing-in-progress around 9:45 Wednesday morning.
Deputies spotted Shepherd's vehicle shortly after 10 a.m. in the area of State Road RA.
The sheriff's office said Shepherd led authorities on a chase before getting out of the vehicle and running away with a woman who was in the car. The woman was arrested shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday.
In an update at 12:21 a.m. Thursday, the sheriff's office said the search was ongoing and focused on the area of State Roads F and J, along with County Road 343 following a reported sighting of Shepherd.
Authorities asked residents in the area to secure all vehicles to prevent the suspect from stealing one to escape.
Anyone who sees Shepherd is also asked to call 911.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Boone County Sheriff's office are helping in the search, according to the post.
