MU Alerts: All clear given after reports of shots fired near 5th and Turner

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

MU Alerts reported gunshots were fired at 5th and Turner in downtown Columbia just before 9 p.m. last night.

ABC 17 News crews saw Columbia police and EMS are scene. More than a dozen MUPD and CPS vehicles were on the scene.

About 20 minutes after the original MU Alert, the university sent out an update saying one person was assaulted but not shot.

The MU Alert system reported an all clear 37 minutes after the initial call of shots fired was reported.

On the scene, reporters saw at least two people being put into cars in handcuffs. One witness on the scene said he heard 1-3 gunshots.

Police on the scene said more information will be released at a later time.
