Columbia man dies in US 63 crash Tuesday in Macon County

EXCELLO, Mo. (KMIZ)

Missouri State Highway Patrol is reporting one person has died and another has serious injuries after a wreck on US 63 a mile north of Excello.

According to the MSHP, Nicholas Evans was driving on US 63 when the box truck began to slide on the ice covered roadway.

The trooper reports the truck slid off the east side of the road and overturning.

John Linder, a passnger in the box truck, was pronounced dead by the Macon County coroner at the scene of the wreck.

Linder and Evans were both not wearing seat belts.

Evans was taken to a Columbia hospital with serious injuries.
