Jefferson City Police: Lock your car, thefts on the rise

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Jefferson City Police are reminding everyone to lock their vehicles and homes after seeing an increase in theft cases over the past several months.

According to police, thieves have stolen 24 firearms from vehicles and 16 firearms from residences.

Along with the thefts from motor vehicles, the department has seen an increase in the thefts of motor vehicles.

In the last week, police have investigated reports of stolen vehicles from residences that had no forced entry.
