Moniteau County man arrested after traffic stop Friday night

CALIFORNIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Moniteau County sheriff’s deputy arrested a man after a traffic stop ended with the man being tased before being taken into custody.

According to officials, on Friday night, Moniteau County sheriff’s deputy pulled over Donald Wolverton for a registration violation on Old Hwy 50 just outside of California, Mo.

Officials say deputies asked Wolverton to exit the vehicle multiple times but Wolverton refused.

Officials say Wolverton exited the vehicle, throwing open the car door and hitting a deputy then began shouting obscenities at the deputies.

According to the release, Wolverton resisted detention and attempted to strike deputies before the deputy used a TASER on Wolverton.

After being taken into custody according to officials, deputies discovered marijuana on Wolverton and meth packaged for sale, marijuana, digital scales and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

Wolverton was then treated for injuries and taken to the Moniteau County jail.

Wolverton is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.

Wolverton has his next court date on Dec. 8.

Wolverton has a $50,000 cash or surety bond.
