Camden County Sheriff’s Department warns residents of counterfeit money

Camden County Sheriff's Office

CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Camden County Sheriff's Department is reporting that several area businesses are reporting counterfeit money being passed in the area.

Officials say the bills being passed are bleached and reprinted with higher denominations. Because of this, the starch pens will not show it is counterfeit.

The department would like area citizens and businesses to know this is occurring and to be wary of denominations higher than $20.

There are other ways to check bills such as embedded strips and other safety measures on bills.
