SSM Health to end contracts with emergency room doctors, others at Mexico hospital
MEXICO, Mo. (KMIZ)
SSM Health will end its relationship with a physician group this summer at its Mexico hospital.
St. Mary's Hospital in Audrain County will end its contracts with emergency room doctors at Schumacher Clinical Partners on May 23. The hospital will also part ways with SCP hospitalists there on June 23, according to SSM Health spokesperson Jessica Royston.
Royston did not say how many doctors this would affect at St. Mary's Hospital, or if SSM Health had another provider lined up to take over.
"Those services will be provided by a different company going forward," Royston said. "Providing exceptional patient care to Mexico and the surrounding community is our top priority, and we expect no interruption in services for our patients."
Hospitalists, Royston said, are physicians that take care of patients while hospitalized.
SSM Health operates two hospitals in mid-Missouri. Along with the Mexico hospital, the provider runs St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City.
SCP, headquartered in Lafayette, Louisiana, is a doctor group that helps hospitals "institute clinical management solutions," according to its website. Company spokesperson Maura Nelson told ABC 17 News that they had no comment.
