Man accused of September armed robbery arrested

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Boone County prosecutors charged a man suspected of a Sept. 18 armed robbery at a Columbia gas station.

David Slaughter faces a charge of first-degree robbery in the case. He was booked into the Boone County jail Friday.

Court documents say Slaughter handed a note to a worker at the Midwest Petroleum gas station on 101 E. Nifong Blvd. Police allege the note told the worker not to make a commotion and demanded money from the register and safe. The probable cause statement says Slaughter told the worker he had a gun.

According to Columbia police, Slaughter stole $350 from the business.

Court documents say a worker reached out to police on Oct. 31. Police said the woman had previously been in a relationship with Slaughter and that she recognized him after the incident.

The woman allegedly messaged Slaughter about the robbery. Over texts, he admitted to the suspected crime and said the woman had no part in the robbery, according to the woman.

Slaughter is being held in the Boone County jail on a $50,000 bond. Online court records don't list an attorney for him.
