Driver sent to hospital after crash with deer in Boone County

A driver was taken to the hospital Thursday after a crash involving a deer in Boone County.

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Missouri State troopers say a driver is in the hospital after a crash a crash with a deer on Highway 40 northwest of Rocheport.

MSHP said four people were in the car at the time of the crash. It happened on 40 near the McGill Creek Road intersection around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to the troopers on scene, the driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Missouri Department of Transportation released a report this month that says incidents with deer increase during this time of year. MODOT said 4,050 crashes with deer were reported on state roads. According to the state department, most of the crashes happened in October and November.
