SEDALIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Sedalia Police Department is searching for the person responsible for making a bomb threat at the Bothwell Regional Health Center on Sunday night.

According to a release, Pettis County Joint Communications received a report about a bomb inside the hospital.

The Pettis County Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol along with the police department responded and set up a perimeter. The hospital activated its emergency threat protocols.

Hospital officials said in a separate release patients at the hospital were discharged as quickly as possible. Any new patients and ambulances were rerouted to other nearby hospitals.

A search was done inside and outside the hospital using one bomb-sniffing dog from the sheriff's office and four dogs from Whiteman Air Force Base. Nothing was found, the release says.

The hospital was determined to be safe and resumed normal operations after more than four hours of searching.

The Sedalia Police Department says it is investigating who made the report.
