Court case involving Randolph County sheriff settled
HUNTSVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)
A court case involving multiple parties of Randolph County government has been settled.
ABC 17 News reported on Monday that the Randolph County Commission was granted a temporary restraining order to prevent Sheriff Aaron Wilson from accessing a bank account. Court documents claim Wilson made an unauthorized withdrawal of $7,000.
A Tuesday court entry shows the two sides appeared to have settled the case.
"The parties announce a mutual settlement on this matter without there being any admission/finding of wrongdoing or need of further hearing(s)," an entry on Casenet states.
An injunction order filed on Tuesday states that the Sheriff’s Department and Wilson are barred from making expenditures or withdrawals from any bank accounts that isn’t controlled by the county treasurer’s office.
Wilson was ordered to return the $7,000 and transfer all accounts to the general revenue fund, court documents say.
Wilson told ABC 17 News that the money was going to be used for a regular “Shop With A Deputy” event and the money will go to the county’s general fund. The event will be funded a different way, he said. A source – who wished to remain anonymous due to fear of possible retaliation – reiterated similar information to ABC 17 News on Monday.
Court records list an additional court date for 9 a.m. Monday.
Wilson was defeated in the August Republican primary for Randolph County sheriff, losing to Andy Boggs, who took 61% of the vote.
