One dead, three injured in head-on collision near Moberly
MOBERLY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A crash shut down part of a state route Thursday afternoon just outside Moberly, leaving one dead and two rushed to the hospital.
The Moberly Police Department posted on Facebook just before 3 p.m. saying Route M was closed between county roads 2705 and 2715/2360 and could remain closed for three hours. Moberly police Chief Troy Link said the closure was caused by a deadly crash.
The road reopened at about 5:30 p.m.
Maya Stilwell, of Moberly, was killed in the head-on collision, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report. She was 22. She was a passenger in a 2015 Ford Fusion. She was not wearing a seatbelt. She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was brought to Pathway-Millard Funeral Home, according to the MSHP report.
The crash occurred after a 2012 Dodge Avenger – driven by Steven Garrett, 47, of Moberly – that was heading westbound traveled into the eastbound lane and hit a 2015 Ford Fusion head-on.
The Ford was driven by Conar Maylee, 23, of Moberly. He had moderate injuries and was brought to University Hospital by ambulance, along with a 2-year-old girl who also had moderate injuries. Maylee was wearing a seatbelt.
Garrett had moderate injuries and was also brought to University Hospital by ambulance. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Both vehicles were totaled.
