Solider identified after deadly shooting at Fort Leonard Wood

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A soldier found dead on July 12 at Fort Leonard Wood has been identified.

According to a Fort Leonard Wood press release, Cpl. Robert Wilson III, 23, was found shot and pronounced dead at an on-post residence at 12:15 a.m. July 12.

Wilson was a human resources non-commissioned officer assigned to the 84th Chemical Battalion at Fort Leonard Wood, according to the release.

The shooting is being investigated by Fort Leonard Wood law enforcement and the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division.
