WINDSOR, Mo. (KMIZ)

One man is dead and another is charged with his murder after a shooting near County Line Road in Pettis County just after midnight Thursday.

A Pettis County prosecutor has charged Mark Fielder, 64, with first-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, and second-degree assault.

Investigators report an armed confrontation took place between people in two-vehicle and James Fannon, 41, was shot in the head. Officials say the Fannon's body was later dumped in Henry County.

Benton County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call at 8 a.m. after someone found Fannon's body in a roadside ditch. Deputies on scene determined the body to be inside Henry County. Henry County Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene and began investigating. Through the investigation, it was learned that this shooting had occurred within the Pettis County jurisdiction.

Investigators identified Fielder as a possible suspect and arrested him Friday morning just after midnight at a residence on the 800 block of Jackson St. in Windsor.

Fielder has a bond set at $500,000 cash or surety.
