COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

More members of Missouri Task Force 1 are being deployed to assist in Hurricane Helene relief, a Friday press release says.

Task Force 1 initially received deployment orders for 45 members on Wednesday, previous reporting indicates. Three more members were activated Thursday, Friday’s release says. Two of those members were assigned to Orlando, Florida, and the third was ordered to North Carolina, the release says.

The release says that on Friday morning, the Federal Emergency Management Agency activated a 16-person Water Rescue Mission Ready Package to respond to North Carolina. They were expected to leave Missouri at 3:30 p.m., the release says.

The release says the team that was deployed to Gainesville, Georgia, is now heading to Valdosta, Georgia, and is expected to arrive there by 1 p.m. Saturday.
