MORGAN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Morgan County man was charged after allegedly firing a gun at a woman in a pickup truck on Sunday.

Scott Gruber, 47, of Stover, was charged with first-degree assault or attempt, two counts of armed criminal action and shooting at or from a motor vehicle. He is being held at the Morgan County Jail on a $150,000 bond. An arraignment is set for 9 a.m. Thursday at the Morgan County Courthouse.

According to the probable cause statement, Morgan County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call around 1:20 a.m. Sunday about someone being shot at while she was in a vehicle.

Deputies met with the victim at a residence, who allegedly said Gruber shot at her while she was sitting in a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, according to the statement. Deputies saw a hole in the passenger-side window that appeared to be from a bullet, as well as damage to the windshield, the statement says.

The woman allegedly told law enforcement that she was in the vehicle with another person – whose name was redacted – and stated the person with her ran away because of an outstanding warrant, according to the probable cause statement. The woman told deputies that no one was injured and Gruber got away in an SUV, according to the statement.

The woman allegedly told deputies that the shooting occurred because she and Gruber were in a feud and that she was driving. Gruber allegedly pulled into the driver of a residence after she parked in the driveway, the statement says. He then allegedly got out of the vehicle and shot at the woman’s vehicle twice. She then allegedly got out of her vehicle and yelled at Gruber, who then drove away, the statement says.

Law enforcement was provided an address to an RV in Morgan County were Gruber had been staying, according to court documents. An SUV registered to Gruber was found, the statement says. Gruber was not immediately located, but ended up getting booked into the jail at 11:58 a.m., according to jail records.
