Woman in horse-drawn buggy dies in Morgan County crash

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A woman died Monday afternoon when the horse-drawn buggy she was riding in was hit from behind by an SUV on a Morgan County highway.

Anna Leinbach, 53, of Barnett, Missouri, died when the buggy driven by John Leinbach, 51, of Barnett, was rear-ended by a Jeep Compass subcompact SUV, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The collision pushed the buggy off the road and threw both Leinbachs from the vehicle, the report says.

Anna Leinbach was pronounced dead at the scene on Route C. John Leinbach was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital with moderate injuries.

The death was the second this year in the patrol's Troop F region, which covers much of Mid-Missouri.
