Pedestrian killed in Morgan County crash

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Stover man was killed Wednesday night in a crash on Highway 5.

Kyle Washia, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene at about 9:30 p.m. about a half-mile south of Route J in Morgan County, south of Versailles, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

Washia was standing next to a stopped vehicle in the northbound lane, the patrol says. Another car, driven by Amherst Noel, 49, of Gravois Mills, hit Washia and went off the road, according to the patrol.

Noel was not hurt.

Washia was in the road after he crashed his vehicle, pulling out in front of another car, just before he was hit. That crash caused serious injuries to Washia and a passenger in his vehicle. Two people in the other vehicle, including a 9-year-old, had moderate injuries.

This is the first traffic death of the month in the patrol's Troop F region, which covers much of Central Missouri.
