Benton County woman killed in Morgan County crash

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Cole Camp, Missouri, woman died after a crash Monday on Highway 50 in Morgan County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Patricia Ives, 74, was killed when the small SUV she was riding hit a large truck head-on on Highway 50 just east of Highway 5 at about 11 a.m. The driver of the SUV, Philip Wellington, 70, also of Cole Camp, suffered moderate injuries and was flown to University Hospital, the patrol reports.

Ives was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck, Eric Friedly, 40, of Otterville, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Bothwell Hospital by a private vehicle.

None of the people involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts, the patrol says.

The crash happened as Wellington was trying to pass another vehicle, according to the patrol report.
