Montgomery County man charged with assault after allegedly burning the victim with a propane torch

MCKITTRICK, Mo. (KMIZ)

Montgomery County Sheriff's Department arrested a man after he allegedly used a propane torch and burning his roommate multiple times.

Deputies responded Monday morning to a residence on the 300 block of Walnut St. for a domestic assault.

According to court records, Scott Deberry allegedly used the propane torch on his roommate burning the victim on the arms, fingers and hands.

The victim showed the deputy a video of the incident showing Deberry yelling and assaulting the victim according to court records. The deputy reports seeing the blue flame coming out of the torch on the video.

On the video, Deberry can be seen throwing the torch at a window breaking it according to court documents.

Deberry left the residence and the deputy found him next door and took him into custody.

Deberry is charged with 2nd-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action and 2nd degree property damage.

Deberry is still in the Montgomery Jail and no bond has been set at this time.

Deberry's next court date is on Monday at 9 a.m.
