Thousands in eastern Mid-Missouri without power

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Thousands of Ameren customers in the eastern portion of Mid-Missouri were without power Friday afternoon.

From Martinsburg to Hermann, nine power outages affected more than 3,900 customers, according to the electric company's outage map.

Emily Rau with Ameren said a temporary issue at the Montgomery substation caused the outage. It's unclear what the exact cause was as of Friday afternoon.

Since 1:30 p.m., many have had their lights come back on. Rau said most customers should be back online by 2 p.m.

Earlier in the afternoon, 1,629 in Montgomery City, 590 in Wellsville, and 278 in Chamois were all affected by the outage.

This is a developing story, check back for updates.
