Man arrested after allegedly assaulting two people and stealing a vehicle in Moniteau County

CLARKSBURG, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Moniteau County Sheriff's Office is reporting a man was arrested Monday after an assault call and a chase from Clarksburg to California.

According to court documents, Bryan Bardin is accused of an assault at a residence on the 200 block of Shelby St in Clarksburg then stealing a vehicle from the residence and headed to Jefferson City. Court documents state that is where Moniteau County Sheriff's deputy located Bardin and Bardin wrecked into a ditch at the intersection of Hwy 87 and Hwy 50.

After placing Bardin into custody, deputies report finding needles that field-tested positive for meth in the vehicle.

During the investigation into the assault, the victims told deputies that Bardin had visited them at a home and then pepper-sprayed them demanding access to the safe at home.

Bardin is charged with 2nd-degree robbery, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bardin has a $100,000 cash/surety bond.

Bardin's next court day is Wednesday.
