CALIFORNIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

UPDATE: The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Wilson was safe after he returned home.

The California Police Department chief said he did not know the circumstances of Wilson's return.

ORIGINAL: The California Police Department put out an appeal for public help Monday to find a man missing since Wednesday.

The department said 55-year-old Jeffrey Wilson left his home in his red Ford F-150 pickup truck Wednesday morning and has not been seen since. Wilson is about 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs about 300 pounds with gray hair and green eyes, police said. He has a goatee.

Wilson reportedly visited California Construction Company on Wednesday morning and texted his wife before communication stopped.

Wilson did not take a change of clothes, medications or money with him when he left, police said. He also skipped a doctor's appointment.

Police pinged Wilson's cellphone and found its last location was on Highway 87 near Jamestown. The phone was turned off Wednesday morning and has not been turned on since, police said.

The department said it has asked the highway patrol to issue a statewide missing person alert.
