$100,000 settlement reached in fatal Moberly crash

The family of Douglas Barnes, a Moberly man who died in a crash on July 15, has reached a settlement in a wrongful death case.

Barnes’ family reached a $100,000 settlement with Dora Marie Jones. A petition to approve the settlement was filed on Wednesday in Randolph County.

Previous reporting indicates a 39-year-old Moberly man died after he was hit at the intersection of East Highway 24 and East Outer Road. The crash involved a motorcycle and an SUV.

The man was pronounced dead at Moberly Regional Medical Center, but authorities at the time did not release his name.
