COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The City of Moberly on Friday announced the retirement of Police Chief Troy Link.

The city made the announcement in a social media post. Link retired this week after 33 years, eight of which were as the chief of the Moberly Police Department. Bobby Calvert will serve as the interim chief, the post says.

The post says that Link graduated from the University of Central Missouri in 1991 with a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice. He joined MPD as a patrol officer in 1992 before becoming a corporal, then sergeant and SWAT commander, the post says. In 2016, Link was invited by the FBI to join the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia for a 10-week course, the release says.

He became the chief of police in October 2016 after Russell Tarr Link retired from the position.

The city wrote that it will conduct a comprehensive search for its next chief after conducting an internal needs assessment.
