FEMA to join preliminary damage assessment for last week’s storms

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Gov. Mike Kehoe’s office announced in a Thursday press release that FEMA will participate in preliminary damage assessment for storms that rolled through Missouri last week.

Kehoe’s office asked FEMA to join the assessment on Monday.

Joint PDA teams are made up of representatives from FEMA, SEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration and local emergency management officials, the release says

Requests were made for 25 counties, including: Benton, Bollinger, Butler, Callaway, Carter, Dent, Dunklin, Franklin, Gentry, Howell, Iron, Madison, New Madrid, Oregon, Ozark, Perry, Phelps, Reynolds, Ripley, St. Louis, Scott, Shannon, Stoddard, Wayne and Wright counties. More counties could be added.

Teams will begin to verify documented damage on Tuesday.

Kehoe also signed an executive order on Thursday that lets the Department of Natural Resources to temporarily waive some environmental rules to remove debris and aid in recovery efforts, another press release from Thursday says.
