QUESTION OF THE DAY: Should Missouri eliminate its sales tax on groceries?
A perennial proposal to eliminate Missouri's sales tax on groceries is back. This time, it comes amid unrelenting inflation that is stretching household budgets.
A bill before the Missouri House would stop Missouri's collection of its 1.225% tax on grocery sales and local taxes on food would also be prohibited. While eliminating the tax would benefit the poor more than anyone else, the idea has some local governments concerned about the potential loss in revenue.
