COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Holts Summit woman saved a dog on Thursday before getting pulled to safety.

The Holts Summit Police Department wrote in a Thursday social media post that an officer and an animal control officer were called after a dog fell through ice at a lake near Dogwood Drive and Summertree Lane.

Police say a woman got into a kayak and was able to rescue the dog. However, her kayak became stuck in the ice and had to be pulled back to shore.

“Thinking quickly, our officers deployed a water rescue throw bag and worked together to pull the individual back to land safely. Thankfully, both the dog and the female were unharmed!” the post says.

The post did not mention the woman’s name.
