2 DOC inmates die at Mid-Missouri facilities on Monday

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two inmates at separate Missouri Department of Corrections facilities died on Monday, the DOC stated in separate press releases on Tuesday.

Gregory Peck, 45, was pronounced dead at 3:54 a.m. at Algoa Correctional Center in Jefferson City. The release says that he was serving a 15-year sentence for selling and possessing drugs and another four-year sentence for drug possession for St. Francois County.

He also sentenced five years for drug possession in Cape Girardeau County. His sentence began on March 30, 2015, the release says.

Another man – Ronald Shanks, 47 – was pronounced dead at 9:55 p.m. at the Fulton Reception and Diagnostic Center, the release says. He was serving a 10-year sentence for drug charges in Lincoln County, the release says. He was received by the DOC on Nov. 6, 2024.

Autopsies will be performed on both men, the releases say.
