More than 1,000 outages reported in Montgomery County

Storms rolled through Mid-Missouri on Tuesday afternoon and caused several power outages and closed a portion of Interstate 70.

There were 1,764 electricity customers in Benton County that experienced a power outage during the outage's peak. The outage was reduced to 165 people by 7:50 p.m.

According to the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives outage map, during that outage's peak there were 826 outages were for Osage Valley Electric Cooperative Association customers, 844 were from Southwest Electric Co-o and another 93 were from Sac Osage Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Benton and Pettis counties were in a tornado warning from about 5:30 p.m. Thursday until 6 p.m. No outages were reported in Pettis County. Additionally, another 1,697 customers were without power in Henry County, but it was resolved by 7:50 p.m.

There were 303 outages reported for Co-Mo Electric Cooperative, Inc customers in Morgan County at 7:50 p.m.

There were an additional 1,685 outages reported for Montgomery County Ameren customers at its peak. By 7:50 p.m., it was reduced to 1,060. The Missouri Department of Transportation wrote on its traveler map that part of Interstate 70 was shut down near New Florence because of storm damage. The closure was expected to last about four hours, however the Missouri State Highway Patrol wrote on its social media that the road was back open at 8:22 p.m.

Earlier in the day before storms arrived, there were 572 power outages were reported for Three Rivers Electric Customers in Osage County.

Three Rivers Electric wrote on its Facebook page at 4:01 p.m. that crews were dispatched and are attempting to determine the cause of the outage and restore power. That outage was restored by 5 p.m.
